This brief explores the benefits of measuring criminal court performance, shares two case studies of where doing so has been successful, and then offers one potential application to Cook County: timely disposition of felony cases.
Chicago Appleseed Policy Briefs are research and advocacy papers that explore current trends in public policy. Policy Briefs investigate policy innovations being implemented in other urban jurisdictions and consider how they might work in Chicago, Cook County, and/or Illinois. Alternatively, they consider current Cook County practices that have raised concerns. Policy briefs may also attempt to answer a policy question of interest to current policy makers.
